Determine What Travel Insurance You Require Prior To Going Out The Door

By

Schengen Visa is a company that provides insurance for European countries although they have extended their coverage to visitors as well.  The requirements they ask of in their policy are required by the consulates of those countries.  What you would need to get is a Schengen visa from the consulate of your destination if you are a non US citizen. The one thing that is required of you before you will get the Schengen visa issued to you is that you must show your travel insurance to the consulate of your destination and get approval.  They really don’t want any problems for you or their country while you are traveling so they just want to verify what you have and make sure its adequate.  You really want to find out what travel health insurance you have before leaving.  Do you want senior citizen travel insurance or the cheapest annual travel insurance?

Three countries in particular would require to know what you have. Those countries are France, Germany and Greece.  The insurance company you are with must have an office in Europe, so be sure to ask when you are looking to travel insurance.  They also would like to be sure if you have medical evacuation which covers at least $37,000.  And the coverage of your insurance must also be valid for all the Schengen states.  These countries include: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Greece, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.

Traveling within Europe is exciting, and with regards to travel insurance there are going to be many different choices available to you.  Each country is going to have different requirements, and when looking for a travel insurance policy for your destination, it can be confusing in the beginning because there are a number of types of coverages and policies available.  They are all different. Some of the medical evacuation policies can vary anywhere from $500 to $1,000 or more, so no two are created equal.
